Nanocomposite 3D Printing
Project Overview
The Objet Polyjet process is unique among Additive Manufacturing (AM) processes because it has the ability to selectively place multiple materials within a single build layer. The selective placement of materials has opened the doors for mechanisms with built-in, flexible joints, multi-material topology optimization, and now the selective placement of traditionally non-AM materials within an AM part. Nano particles are of particular interest for incorporating into AM media because of their unique mechanical, conductive, and optical properties.
Currently Quantum Dots are being studied within the Objet Polyjet print media for use in cryptography, optical sensing, and programmable matter applications. In collaboration with the Laboratory for Engineered Nano (LENS) Lab, quantum dots are being studied within the Objet Polyjet print media for use in cryptography, optical sensing, and programmable matter applications.
