Deposition Strategies for Direct Energy Deposition Manufacturing
Project Overview
Understanding how direct energy deposition (DED) process parameters and deposition strategies affect mechanical properties and microstructure. This study explores a methodology that first selects a deposition strategy and layer thickness and then optimizes process parameters to obtain desired material properties. Current techniques begin with optimizing DED parameters and working with the resulting thickness to test samples and manufacture parts. Several deposition strategies that incorporate overlap and re-melting are explored. |
