Keyton earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a mathematics minor from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville (UWP) in 2017. At UWP, Keyton’s research was focused on the investigation of guanidine-like ligands to synthesize an electron-rich and coordinatively unsaturated metal complexes that have increased tunability of electron donation and resonance stabilization for cleavage of aryl-heteroatom bonds in lignin and heavy crudes. Keyton was introduced to additive manufacturing during the Macromolecule Innovation Institute (MII) REU in the summer of 2016. He was placed in the DREAMS Lab under Dr. Don Aduba researching the printing of ceramic suspensions via stereolithography to print highly porous water and gas filters, while also understanding the rheological, morphologic, and geometric parameters effect on shrinkage.
Keyton returned to the DREAMS Lab the fall of 2017 as an MII graduate student to pursue a Ph.D. in macromolecular science and engineering. His research now focuses on developing and characterizing novel polymeric materials for stereolithography.
